WALK
More than 6 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s disease, including 410,000 New Yorkers and that number continues to rise. At the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s, we’re fighting for a different future. For families facing the disease today. For more time. For treatments. We’re closer than ever to stopping Alzheimer’s. But to get there, we need you.
On Walk Day, participants honor those affected by Alzheimer’s with a poignant Promise Garden Ceremony – a mission-focused experience that signifies our solidarity in the fight against the disease. The colors of the Promise Garden flowers represent people’s connection to Alzheimer’s – their personal reasons to end the disease. The blue flower represents those living with the disease; yellow represents those caring for a loved one; purple represents those who have lost a loved one to Alzheimer’s or another dementia; and orange represents our dedicated community advocates who believe in our mission.
Walk to End Alzheimer’s is the world’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research. This inspiring event calls on participants of all ages and abilities to join the fight against the disease and reminds us that when we come together, we can make a difference.
