Legends Award

This award honors members who have provided, throughout their careers, significant service and leadership to their local and state affiliates, as well as to their retiree council.

Tracy began her teaching career in 1982.  She was President of  the Grand Island Teachers Union. In retirement she was an active board member of RC 1. She  transitioned to Retiree Services Consultant for Retiree Councils 1,2,3, & 44, providing guidance for 7 years. Tracy has made many lasting contributions to her local and to NYSUT. 

The 2025  NYSUT Retirees of WNY Legends Award winner is Sara Rodland. Sara is a Buffalo Public Schools Retiree. In retirement Sara continues her union involvement.

The 2024 WNY NYSUT Coalition Legends Award winner is Joanne McCartin. Joanne is a Grand Island retiree & has been an active member of the Retiree Coalition for 24 years.

The 2021 NYSUT Retirees Coalition Legends Award winner is Jane Kauffman.  Jane is a Williamsville Retiree. In retirement Jane continued as a leader in NYSUT advocating for Retirees as well as on the Buffalo Central Labor Council.
